Community Engagement Lead / Associate Director
Rebecca Gillette is the Community Engagement Lead / Associate Director for Mapping Prejudice. She is responsible for nurturing collaborations between Mapping Prejudice, the University of Minnesota libraries, and community organizers, artists and changemakers working for housing justice and racial equity.
Rebecca leads Mapping Prejudice's strategy for engagement with volunteer community map makers, particularly those most impacted by the history of racial covenants and who are at the center of the project’s story. She designed and facilitated our 2022-2023 Community Fellows Program - a model for community co-creation using the documentation of racially restrictive deeds to advance racial justice. She is a member of the Diversity Community of Practice collaborative, Mapping Prejudice’s Community Advisory Board, and other external coalitions.
