Our Histories Are Healing?

Our Histories Are Healing uses history to disrupt racial trauma and reimagine new futures. This workshop guides Black and Brown participants to ground themselves in personal histories as a way to locate themselves in the history of racial covenants and housing discrimination. Through collective story sharing and guided embodiment, we offer opportunities to honor memory, ignite resistance, and reflect on our experiences and existence over time.

Who are we?  Mapping Prejudice identifies and maps racial covenants, clauses that were inserted into property deeds to keep people who were not White from buying or occupying homes. From our base in the University of Minnesota Libraries, our interdisciplinary team collaborates with community members to expose the history of structural racism and support the work of reparations. Render Free disrupts racial trauma by promoting whole-body wellness, using narrative, somatic and antiracism tools
